Deaf to the World
Alone in the night,
she heard nothing at all,
not even the wind and it's might.
For she has choosed this life,
as did her mother before her,
she swore she'd win this fight,
even though her baby cries,
she hears nothing.
Always fearful of the dreaded cycle,
the drugs are all she can decipher,
the poor child is left alone,
for all she knows is that white powder.
