Waiting

I’m waiting
I’m waiting for you
to tell me it’s okay.
I’m waiting for your permission.
I’m waiting for your approval
I’m waiting for your nod.
I’m waiting
I’m waiting for you.
Can I come out of the dark?
Step over the equator of our land
That separates you from me?
I’m waiting for your word
I’m waiting for your smile
I’m waiting for your opinion.
I’m waiting for you.
Tired of the silence,
Tired of the darkness,
Tired of being told what to do
Tired of waiting.
I’m waiting for my confidence
I’m waiting for my words
I’m waiting for the truth.
I’m waiting
I’m waiting for me.

this is a really good self realization. amazing how you start out waiting for that one person, but in the end you finish with waiting for yourself.

I love this, it really captures the insecurity that's so much a part of growing up

This reminds me of many people who are unsure of themselves or maturing.

Whoa! Total surprise ending here! It turns out that after all this time, you're actually waiting for yourself? I'd be intrigued to learn what you were feeling when this was written.
