Invisibility

It was foolish of me to think you could
I should have known better
For how can you see what is invisible?
Life marches on
Yet your eyes see me not
How could you?
I am still invisible
You see my knowledge
You see my work
And leech from it
But you never see me
It’s all that can be expected
For how can anyone see an invisible man?

I speak but your ears hear me not
For how can you hear a ghost’s whisper?
My knowledge reaches you
But my voice is evaded
I can’t be disappointed
For none can hear a ghost’s whisper

I wish you would see me
Wish you could hear me
But how can you see what is invisible?
How can you hear what isn’t said?

Feeling like someone was only being my friend to better themselves and me not being able to tell them what I felt about the situation inspired me to write this.

A dying man needs to die, as a sleepy man needs to sleep, and there comes a time when it is wrong, as well as useless, to resist.
