when i was young i believed

When I was Young I believed
I believed…
The world was perfect
I believed…
No one looked at black and white people differently—everyone was equal
I believed…
That there was no hate
I believed…
That everyone got along and was happy also kind
Most of all…
I believed our world was at peace
But then I grew up…
Took a breath of reality…
And I realized everyone hates…
Our world is not perfect…
Our world is most definitely not at peace.
I now believe…
I can make a difference—I have hope.
