Gray and silver
Golden eyes
At the foot of my bed
She cries and cries
Meowing
Hops up on the bed
On little cat feet
Silky white paws
With pink pads underneath
Purring like a summer afternoon
She curls up ontop of me
Her nose is pink and wet
Her whiskers fine and delicate
Her tongue, flicking, flitting, flinging in and out
Pink and rough and quick
Her paws, my hand
She gives a little lick
Then prods me to pet her
Under her throat
Down her back
Then she settles back in
To take a long kitten nap
At the foot of my bed
Or right in my lap.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem "Gracie" while I was in bed watching her...and I was inspired to write a poem about exactly what she was doing and the things I loved about her. My parents gave her away the day after I wrote this poem, so that made me want to publish it.
