In The Dark
The sounds I hear at 3 in the morning
Snoring from my dad sleeping
Big trucks going through the highway
The sound of the tires as they try to stop on the wet road
The sound of the warm air coming from the heater
What can I see at 3 am
The red light from the clock flashing
The orange light from the heater and light switch
Light from the light post coming through the window
It’s really dark so as your eyes adjust it looks black and white like old pictures
What do you feel at 3 am
My soft silk pillow and the hard bone from my arm from under my head
The soft mattress underneath my body
The warm heating pad underneath and against my back
And last my soft and warm blankets covered and against my warm body
In the dark the world just looks different when it’s 3 in the morning
Why am I awake because my heart is beating so fast
Do to me being so scared and know one will ever know why.
