Hurtful Laughter

I am not intelligent,
you've made it clear as a bell.
You laughed at my expense,
and you did it quite well.
I bore it and pushed on,
for what else could I do?
It’s not like I can con,
it’s not like I can sue.
I couldn't run away,
or hide myself in haste.
For though I was in rage,
you hadn't laughed in my face.
Others would have stared,
had I pointed you out.
They would have taken your side,
they would have kicked me out.
