Kristallnacht
The world shattered
Destroyed beyond repair
The sky fell
The sun died
And yet it seemed time went on
The crash would echo for years to come
This was one mistake that could not be fixed
How many paid the price
6 million
A lot
A lot of family, friends, and neighbors
But it goes deeper than flesh and blood
What happens to the souls of those innocent people?
Do they disappear and vanish just like the bodies?
Or do they continue to live on
And touch thousands more to come
We must remember
We must never forget
We were killed and slaughtered
We survived and grew stronger
We refused to die
We have the hunger
We have the will to truly stand the test of time
What happens to the souls of the evil?
The ones who would kill in the name of god?
Why is your god better than mine?
How strong will your punishment be?
Do you go to hell?
Prison means nothing
No cell will ever punish you enough
Death is too good for you
We are the peaceful
We are the hopeful
We are the joy
We are the jews
We are a force
We hold the power because we don’t stand-alone
We will not let an injustice be done
We are not perfect
But we are whole
No matter what anyone does to us
There still is God!

I wrote this on Kristallnact, which if you don't know what that is, it's the night when the Germans came around to jewish stores, homes, people, and synagogues and burned them, looted them, and robbed them. They did horrible things during the holocaust, but this one one night out of many during the holocaust that was devastating.
