tears or true

I'm on the brink of destruction
On the edge of letting go
But straddling the line of incoherency
I find myself holding on by mere duty
Not willing my self
My strength is gone, but none required
I wait until the duty is done to fall
Into oblivion I am cast where there is none
None but my love, my tears
Inconsistent that is love
Blind to the world I slip from self to self
Taken alone by duty
Called by necessity of the body
I am done for one day
Always waiting for another to come
I'm here to await my love
Whether tears or true I wait.

I'm sure I've heard of it, but I don't remember that song specifically. I'll have to go listen and make sure its good.

(That's my favorite line too)

Wow, this is one where I'm going to have to let the message sink in. Have you ever listened to the song "Work" by Jars of Clay? Your poem made me think of it.
