Road to Recovery

February 24, 2010

It isn't something you earn
It can't be bought in a store
It doesn't happen overnight
This; you have to work for

It may take all your courage
It may take all your strength
It's a path you'll have to forge
If you want to live your life

There is no medication
There is no quick fix
Sometimes, in order to win
You have to put up a fight

You have to climb the mountain
You have to do what's right
You have to want it for yourself
There's no other way around it

The author's comments:
Inspired by another girl's discouraged words, I wrote this poem to describe how hard recovery can be and to indicate that it's worth the fight in the end. We all face struggles in life, but it's not about what struggle you may be facing; it's about how you handle the trials you face.
