A Friend Like You

A person who understands
A person who truly cares
A shoulder for you to cry on
When it seems there's no one there

A person to see you through
Even the darkest of days
A person who counts on you
As much as you count on them

Somebody to share your interests
Somebody to share your dreams
Somebody to encourage you
To continue to follow through

And when the days get short
This person is still there
To smile at you and say
I'll always be your friend

In remembrance of all my close friends throughout life, this poem express the compassion and love I feel toward the people who are close to my heart.
