When I was a little girl
My mother would cry
Everything they was broken and protection was never there
With different love behind my back
I will never love again
l-o-v-e was a word I could never say
but then there was you
When I was young a relationship wasn’t real
My father was silent when it came to that four letter word … that didn’t mean anything
And then there was you
When I grew up just by a year my world had no recollection of what was never there
But then there was you
