My nails dig into my dad’s arm
My head is spinning uncontrollably
Pain lurks around every corner
Weaker and weaker
Each step harder to take
The elevator drops me off into a nightmare
My imagination races
All alone, like a limp rag doll
I try to block out the surroundings
I lean my head on my dad’s shoulder
My eyelids refuse to close
I’m exposed to my surroundings
Step after step
Deep breath after deep breath
I make it to my own little safe haven
Next to my mom in the hospital bed
