Happy Ending
I carried the rose through the broken path

 I asked why.

I placed it on a stone, and begged foe mercy.

The pain of a heart at ache bared in my chest

An unsettling ease swept over me,

As I knew I was at rest.

The dream showed my concealed anguish

And the dear face of my love.

Awoken by a rock tapping the window

I went to look out, there he stood.

The window complained as I eased it open,

“Why are thou there? What is it thou want?”

A frown broke his face and he replied,

 “Unsettled things make me uneasy

I feel guilty and know its my fault.

I was fraud to think thou a fool

As that name is mine own.”

The words engendered a tear to fall on my cheek.

“ Fool am I to think thou not of value to me

And fool it is that I may be

But alas I am not untrue, so as I say so

Take these words I utter from thine heart to you.

Meet me tomorrow among the fountain

And I shall prove myself worthy and true

But as I bid you farewell

there is one favor of which I ask.

May you climb down the eve

Bid me a proper good bye

Look deep into my soul with thine eye

And bid my a goodnight kiss.”
