belovednight
Darkness surrounds me, engulfing my body.
The alluring unknown, waiting to welcome me back at the end of each day.
Everything is simplified to shapes and shadows, lines blurred and colors evaporated.
The familiar fear of what cannot be seen pulsates through my veins, but I ignore it.
Appreciation for the simplicity and visual silence overpowers the fear.
The night is preferable to the day.
People are all equal in darkness.
I am truly alone with my thoughts, without the distractions that come with light.
My headache is eased, my heart slows to a steady pace, thumping soothingly, like a metronome.
Problems and worries of the day seem so plain, answers falling into place.
Sleep creeps out of the tenebrous corners, claiming my mind for his own.
My answers slip away as I slip behind the veil that separates the sleeping and the awake
to be forgotten in the darkness I am so fond of.
