Voices
Blown away in the wind
Never to be heard
By her ears -
Blown across empty swing sets
Across hills and meadows
Only the birds and bees hear me,
It seems as if no one cares.
The phone rings -
It’s her
Her sweet voice tells me she’s sorry.
But I open my mouth
And nothing comes out
Like an old door
To an abandoned house.
Nothing.
She tells me everything
But I can’t say anything back.
As I try so hard
And ask for Gods help -
Nothing.
It seems as if there is no hope now
For I have thrown away my vows.
As I sit behind the window pain
Looking out as it rains.
As I sit in the corner in my room
Tears rushing down my face -
They crash into the floor
Like ocean waves against the shore.
I can only think about her
And what we could have had.
