The old musicians’ faces
grimy with time and age
resemble old newspapers
faded with coffee cup stains.
Time mingles the words
so you don’t quite see,
don’t quite hear
their poor, homeless notes.
There are six golden eyes,
two guitars, one banjo,
an artist hat,
some striped overalls.
They play in day;
they play in night,
never pausing
Strumming their aged instruments,
bleached bright from the sun’s light.
If you take the time to watch,
you just might see,
just might hear
their poor, homeless notes.
