Yawing for an Ephemeral
I watch the world at a tilt.
Feeling as though I will fall at any moment.
I can already feel traces of pain.
 People walk or cycle by.
Others stare back from their cars. I will not look away.
My heart beats quick from any glance at the ground.
The wind is cool as it caresses my face with its soft sheets.
I jerk to a halt. People shout to one another. A neutral tear pushes its way out into the world. I want to bite down on the Earth and grip it in my teeth.

 But it’s too painful.
Instead I let the earth wrap me into itself .
 In its cocoon…
A boy trudges by and I don’t wonder where he’s going.
 I just assume it’s home.
