Cheesecake, Oh Cheesecake
How I grew to hate you
You lay there laughing, mocking me
You came back to haunt me with a vengeance
Month after month after month
Oh how I grew to hate you
I abandoned all hope of us being friends
I slid you and your decedents under my table to the dogs
Oh how I grew to hate you
Then many oh so many years later
We found each other again
In a factory dedicated to you (Cheesecake Factory)
I offered my white flag of surrender
With my first bite a friendship was mended
Your light fluffy texture
Made my taste buds sing a homecoming song
Oh how could I have forgotten the sweet sensation
Of letting your chocolately mixture melt in my mouth
I'm in rapture at your excellence with every bite
Images of sweet cheesecake and Godiva float in my head
This friendship will never be broken or tampered with again
I push my cheesecake away only to stand and kiss the cook
Oh cheesecake, sweet cheesecake, may we never part!

The author's comments:
I used to have this event at my house growing up where my parents would buy lots of cheesecakes for the guests to enjoy, but almost always there would be tons left over and my siblings and I would have to eat it all before it went bad.. Well you can imagine my relationship to cheesecake was put on hold for quite awhile since then! So thats what this poem is about!
