Despair Within Those Teenage Years

February 1, 2010

When hope is no longer,
Tears take its toll
You sink
Deeper, deeper
Deeper than deep's depth
Caged, drowning
You sit at the bottom
As only a burden to life
For you are the bottom
Looking up
With one simple wish
To breathe once more
The air of which,
Far too many times,
Is taken for granted.

This poem was written on one of my self-portraits. The self-portrait portrayed this depressive tone and with such a common feeling within teens, I wrote this poem.
