Why did you have to go?
I was so callow, so innocent.
You were mine, as I was yours.
The pain pounds deep into my heart,
like a thousand drums being played all at once.
I only long to feel your skin again-
to hug you, and feel you embrace me back.
To touch you, I would do anything.
To see your smile, I would give anything.
Just for tonight would even be enough.
I would rest my head on your shoulder
and feel your delicate hand wipe away my tears.
Then that moment would be gone-
nothing but a phantom of the past.
As all my memories of you are-
nothing but a lonely phantom in my past.

I wrote this about my aunt who passed away due to a brain tumor when I was in first grade. She was very young when she died, and I wish everyday that she were still here with me.
