Dimming Flames
I don’t think this dog’s day is gonna come.

I don’t think my turn to go up to bat again is near.

I don’t think my time to shine is ever returning.

It seems my flair and sparkle has dulled and my flame is going out.

I feel like the last glowing embers of a bonfire and my light is slowly but surely burning away.

And you have the lighter fluid to help reignite me but it’s being put to use on
 another larger, growing, flame.

And all I can do is watch this fire roar as mine dies and hope that you don’t
get burned and that you’re happy as I fade from your eyes and the
sparkle that reflects in your eyes from my flame dims, dulls and

 Disappears.
