Laces This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

Hey-There-I-Uh-Like-Your-Shoes!
No, that doesn't work.
But look at how the laces swing in perfect arcs,
The aglets, eyelets, sole(soul), my love,
They are you and they are me.
Left, right, matched step-step.
But look at that perfect white! Do you scrub them?
No.
So I will write
mynamemynamemyname.
All over you, just so you won't
Forget.
Your shoes, I mean.
I don't want them to ever forget me.
Because if I could I would snag your laces,
Tie us and knot us together. I would.
And we would march-march-march-march.
Right off of a cliff if you asked.
To the edge of the Earth if you asked.
