Warm and sunny
The child played with her brand new toy.
She bounced it around the yard
As her family went away to eat.
Fearful and alone
She spotted two men carrying a gun
And the thought of what to do
Never occurred to her
So she ran.
Free and alive
Her run turned into a fly
Right into the clouds she went
As graceful as an eloquent bird.
Surprised and alarmed
She ran into the restaurant
Hid behind her mother
And prayed they would not find her.
Heartbroken and upset
The child felt her mom push her forward
To deal with her problems on her own
And they killed her with one pull of the trigger.
Cold and dead
She fell to the ground
With a crash so deafening that the mom turned around
And saw her precious child
As alive as the ground one stands on.
Suddenly there was a flash of light
And the whole room lit up as I sat in bed
Relieved that it was only a dream
And that I can still move.
I peeked outside and viewed how the day was
Warm and Sunny

This reminds me of a dream I had too when I was little. It frightened me for weeks.
