Dear Tree
Possess beauty eternal
stand there, strong and proud
with arms outstretched toward heaven,
watch your leaves fall to the ground
Transform with all the seasons,
time cannot mar your face
give life to those who seek it
of self, leave not a trace
And yet, your end is coming
Far awry, something has gone
your kind once blanketed this land
but in there places now,
concrete monsters stand
As I watch you fade and wonder why,
I fear there's nothing I can do
if only you could speak yourself!
oh well, it will all be over soon
Goodbye innocence, so long perfection
injustice and greed dominate all
