As I lie awake, fearful of what winters kiss will take

Curious minds wander they say, when demon thoughts come out to play

I have done nothing wrong, these tears are not fake

Mother dearest hears my cries

Running to my bedside with her soft sighs

Mother “These sheets are heavy against my chest”

She warns me that they are to protect against death

Winters kiss is almost here, the trees crumble and succumb to fear

The skies turn gray and shadows dance

The trees cry out for one more chance

The gray skies turn white

Mother dearest, her voice is no longer heard

She tells me it must be time for her angel to take flight

As I laid awake fearful of what I knew winters kiss would take
