Be poisoned with art.
Drown yourself in the oeuvre of the slaves of their times and
Pour your own glass.
And if you have no verse to pour,
Be poisoned with merit.
Drink the virtue of your fathers and spray the world with
The whiskey of your morals.
And if you have no morals to spray,
Be poisoned with wine.
Flood yourself with the blood of your sorrows
And the food-colored paint thinner that you
Call upon as your own god.
For you have no poetry or virtue to decant.
So be poisoned.

The author's comments:
"Be Poisoned" was heavily inspired by Charles Baudelaire's "Be Drunken." In that poem, Baudelaire calls for every man on this earth to "be drunken continually, with wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you please" - always dedicate yourself to what you love, no matter what it is.

"Be Poisoned" contains a similar message, but it also prioritizes the "wine, poetry, and virtue."
