don't cry, don't open up, don't let them see your fear.
force the smile, wipe your cheeks, lose the tears.
stand up straight, don't hunch over, tuck your hair behind your ear.
tell yourself you're strong, tell yourself you're brave, tell yourself you're unafraid.
you are none of those, you are none of anything, you are nothing.
you don't matter, you're invisible, you don't exist.
no one knows you, no one wants you, no one cares.
you are one ugly, itty-bitty caterpillar,
living in a swarm of big, beautiful butterflies.
