The Saddest Little Liver

January 21, 2010

A liver wheezing for life,
Tired of his midnight visitor,
Sends his screams of frustration
To the world outside of its home.
He bursts the blood vessels in the nose
And yellows the eyes,
Begging for attention.
But still forgotten, his guest
Arrives at due time.
He screams louder
The fingers look ready to rot,
And the blood is forced through the throat.
Hear me! He shouts.
Love me! He begs.
But still no response.
So for the sake of his sanity,
He begins to shut down.
His last desperate plea.
But once again, the frequent
Guest is there to greet him once more.
As the liquid fills his home,
He lies on the floor.
Slowly he will drown,
And be neglected no more.

I have a sort of obssesion with the vital organs that are in the human body. So i decided to write a series of poems, short stories and articles on them. This is the poem that started this all.
