God gave us two ears to hear, two eyes to see and two hands to hold. But why did God give us only one heart? Because he wants us to find the other one.

Jagged Edges; the shingles scratching against my skin
I sit ridged, the pine scented air filling my lungs
Crack! A branch snaps in the quickening wind
I love it though, the rush of an oncoming storm

Clouds roll closer, lightning strikes far off
It's closing the distance, but I'm not afraid
This storm brings no emotion to me that's new
Anger, pain, and regret have already stained my vision red

I resist crying, though it takes all my effort
Water hits my arm when I look down
I reach up to wipe off my cheek, just to find it dry
Staring up to the stars, it seems they are crying for me

A buzzing im my pocket jolts me back to my senses
I look to see his number, my best friend
What's wrong, he asks; he knows me too well
I couldn't conceal my pain from him if I tried

I tell him everything; I bear it all
Lies, deception, and arguments surround and suffocate
My life seems to be collapsing underneath me
I wait, for what seems like hours, for a reply

It doesn't come though, and it hurts even more
I thought surely he could help me through this
The lightning flashes, not 200 feet away
I'm upset, not stupid, so I climb back in through the window

I decide the front porch is the next best place to be
As I take a seat on the swing, my mind begins to wander
All I can hear is the drumming of rain, my heart pounding
And a slam! I feel myself sink deeper into the seat

That's when I realize how close the sound was
I turn to see him run up the stairs toward me
And I stand up just as he swallows me in his warm embrace
And at that moment, I let go of everything I've held onto for years
