Maximum Potential
It was never the right time
and perhaps, we were never the right pair,
but I hope you remember the glimpses we had of that maybe-happiness.
I hope you remember, cherish, hold them tight
and perhaps, if we each wish hard enough,
we can live our separate versions of happiness.
I hope you remember, cherish, fold them close
and even if our hearts will never beat in tandem,
those tiny, precious shadows of pretend-happiness will keep us hoping in the elusive future.
