I was sitting in my bedroom
Listening to
outsidesounds.
Fearing you were sleeping
I didn't make a
sound.
I kept quiet
for what I thought
was
longenough.
I called, you didn't
answer.
I'm waiting.
Still wait
ing.

The unusual structure, like words combining and the split of "wait" and "ing" helped me set a rhythm. I don't know if the pauses and beats of the poem are the same for you, but it was fun to imagine how it would be spoken out loud.
