Crystal Ball

I gaze into my crystal ball
I see an illusion
It’s a grand one
It’s telling me what I should be
Should I listen to its fantasy?
I look closer
And listen
As the message turns to song
How nice it sounds
But it’s not mine…
The song fades
I ask the ball of crystal
How could this possibly be
It answers only in pictures
They crowd my mind
My vision
My being
These images of another person
Another soul
They startle me
I close my ears
I’m fooling myself
I put the crystal ball away
For I know I can be no one else
But myself.

I am really into the "Be yourself" stuff, and if you've noticed I absolutely love the band Styx, so I included some song titles and album titles in the poem as well. :)
