Vanished
As the tears spill out of her eyes
Onto her mothers coat
Like water cascading over the edge of the cliff
The dirt runs down her cheeks
Her tears charge through the air
Faster than the human eye can blink
For this girl’s fidelity for her father
Was more than she herself could explain
Now he has vanished
Withdrawn from her grasp
Just a memory that warms her heart
Warmer than her fathers delightful homemade bread
Crisp out of the oven
She misses him profoundly
Yet somehow he’s still there
Like a ghost, through his soul
He’s there in photos
But above all
He’s there in her heart
And that’s what comforts her
