A Colorful Day
Best friends lay together
After running around outside
They are cold from the fall air
But then warm from the sun
That shines like a spotlight
Her hair on the grass
As thin as angel hair pasta tossed
With leaves that are multicolored
Red, orange, yellow, and brown
The grass, blinking from the wind
Must feel cold and crisp under them
Their bodies covered with spring jackets
Ones brunette the other blond
Looking off into the distance
They see trees swaying in the wind
A dog running to catch a Frisbee
And girl out for a jog
One girl’s hand curled up like spider legs
The nail polish from weeks ago starting to fade away
Reminding me of those long summer days
In the heart of this windy fall day
