Such a simple thing

dad takes off the bling

he moves out

the only time he doesn’t shout

mom doesn’t need to explain

because I feel no pain

I’ve dreamt of this

even more than my first kiss

because this is supposed to be bliss

but they never tell you

so you don’t have a clue

and if your dad is like mine

you’ll be wasting a lot of time

and never getting anywhere

thinking he doesn’t care

because he’s never there

for you

so you cry

you ask why?

Why is he looking for someone?

So you make a pun

trying to giggle amid the tears

so he can’t see your fears

he goes on the internet

making a bet

because he’s desperate

what he finds

now binds

putting you both on the line

he thinks it’s all fine

and now he wants you to accept it

yet all you want to do is quit

but you want to protect

while receiving some respect

so you count to ten

hoping he isn’t like other men

you walk away

praying for a better day

And this is what I came up with.
