I have a secret,
That I won’t tell.
Something bothering me,
Inside my head
And my heart.

My friend is dying, and I can’t help.
I feel so worthless, so… helpless.
Is there nothing I can do?
To save my best friend?

Well, she used to be my best friend,
Until.
The day she decided
It was better for her
To be thin and small
Than be happy at all.

Worse, she believes that
She will be happy
When she loses.

Losing is the name of the game
The game that kills.
She loses her pounds,
And, ultimately,
Her life.

The author's comments:
My best friend became anorexic a year ago. I don't think she knew that it would impact me so deeply, but I lost my best friend, and that's not something you can get over.
