I was sitting along side
friends on the beach
sand between our toes
and rocks sticking on our feet

it was hot and humid
dry and warm
nights were short
and the days so long

the water was warm
and everyone was enjoying
all the spare time they had,
nothing to do, nowhere to be
just having fun
and being ultimately happy

my friends were close
and my family was far away
staying out all night
and being with people all day

no rules were made
everyone came and went as they pleased

it was summer
no parents
