Smile
Her eyes darted back and forth
so quickly, as though
she was watching a tennis match.
Hey.
Her eyes still bouncing,
still fixed on the page
as she lifted her head towards me,
until she finally managed to tear herself away.
She smiled as I sat down,
began telling me about
rabbits
generals
and Bigwig.
I watched her as she spoke,
growing as excited as a child
despite her age.
I reached out put my hand on hers.
She stopped mid-sentence.
Go ahead.
Then she did it again
That shy little smile
that reminds me of rain.
