They left nothing in your honor but dust,
Never paid the respects that were due,
But you'll always be a part of me,
Daddy, this is for you

The rain is falling hard,
heaven shares my pain,
Now if only
it would wash away the blame
The thunder roars mightily,
it shares my anger deep inside,
The lightening brightens the darkest vault, revealing to me
it was my fault

I'm so, so sorry
it wasn't my life instead,
I cannot bear this blame,
the shame of the dead,
but I want you to know, I loved you and still do,
And I'm so so sorry,
I just couldn't save you

My selfish ambitions stole me away from you,
Now this is my punishment,
this is my conviction,
And i deserve every bit
of this never ending affliction
Now you arent here,
it's all because of me,
but dad for what it's worth,
I'm so, so sorry.

I wrote this for my dad when he died in 2009.
