I woke up drenched in sweat
It ran rapidly down my face
Dripped down my face to the carpet
The carpet soaked it up

I took the steps downstairs
My feet thudded on the steps
Each step made the stairs creak
The creaking echoed in the house

I washed my face twice in the bathroom
The sink filled itself with water
Water washed over the counter
The counter was soon drowning in the flood

My father walked into the hallway
He pointed to the overflow in the house
The house was soon soaked ten feet up
Up and higher ‘till it had reached my bed

I woke up drenched in sweat
It ran rapidly down my face
Dripped down my face to my pillow
But on my pillow, I was asleep.

This poem tells the story of a nightmare that my friend Austin had one night. Thank you, Austin.
