Cinderella's Pumpkins
While I’m sitting in class
Something catches my eye
It’s the bright orange jersey
And to my surprise
I look back down
Only to see
My very orange pencil
Staring back at me
The thought of Cinderella
Prances through my head
As I see fat orange pumpkins
Dancing with no end
In this new world
Where all dreams come true
I’m the fairy godmother
And I get to choose
I think for a moment
And wish with all my might
That both of these pumpkins
Could come to life
Little by little
One right after another
The two pumpkins became
Like a baby and a mother
Cinderella’s face starts to glow
In this happy joyful time
We look up at the sky
But have to deny
Snow starts to fall
Its winter already
I have to go inside
But I’ll always remember the time
That I met Cinderella
And made pumpkins come alive
I look back at the jersey
And can’t help but see
A very tall pumpkin
Sitting beside me
Then back down to my pencil
And what do you know
A very thin pumpkin
With a bright orange glow
I close my eyes
To think of Cinderella again
But soon all my thoughts
Drift away again
As I hear a familiar voice
Saying to me,
“Brianna, snap out of it!
It’s your turn to read!”
I catch back up with reality
And soon come to find
It’s only my imagination
Playing tricks on my mind
Cinderella was gone
And there were no more pumpkins
Just an ordinary pencil
Laying on my desk
And some kid in my language arts class
Who’s a Bronco’s fan
