"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. " Edgar Allan Poe

There's screeching
Echoing
Like a thousand voices in the Grand Canyon
Discomforting you
Like a somber lullaby
For a five-month-old baby
That you now know speaks of death
Along the road

There's moaning
Like the sounds of a creaking, aged mansion
Like the song of a broken heart
Split and bleeding
Agonizing
Until you wish you couldn't hear
Along the road

There's betrayers
The ones that linger behind you
Ready to thrust a knife into your flesh
Despicable creatures that thrive on pain
And the inevitable loss of sanity
As the annoyance becomes too great to bear
Along the road

Yet the light at the end draws you forth
And laughter finally reaches your ears
Petal-pink-lipped smiles greet you
You've stumbled long and fallen on occasion
But when the road ends
Look back on it
And see, at long last, where you walked and smiled and laughed
Though unable to see it 'til now

I wrote this piece to show that some people tend to focus on the negative but at the end, you can look back and remember the good times. This is basically saying to be optimistic, or you maybe missing out on the good times, while wallowing in the bad.
