Storm of a Lifetime

Watching and waiting
Each leaf begins to quiver
The sky grows dark
Whispers from the wind
Brush against me
Causing chills up my limbs
Weary I sway and shake
The thunder rolls
Rumpling pulsates my roots
Yet I stand still
The storm of my life
Will not move me
Even though I waver
I refuse to be broken
Strong I stand
The lightening may crack
And the rain may pour
Yet my faith
Keeps me firm in the ground
Leaves fall around me
But my limbs
Still support me
Stinging rain hits me
Yet my face I never turn
The vicious lightening
Scars me
Forever will I
Remember this storm
Hopeful to survive
My strength I'll keep
I'm simply a tree
In a storm
