Life isn't what we do on the first day of the week, but how we live it between Sundays" - Karen Kingsbury

Dear Jesus,
Today is my fifth birthday
Even this does not stop the dismay
I can hear the lying, the crying, no one even trying
So until you come get me once more…

I’ll close my eyes
And dream that I’m dancing with butterflies
I watch my dress spin and shimmer in the moon’s light
And pretend everything is all right

I slowly watch her walk away
Hardly able to preserve the person I portray
I pull my legs to my chest as I hear the sighing turn to crying
So until you come get me once more…

I’ll close my eyes
And dream that I’m dancing with butterflies
I watch my dress spin and shimmer under the moon’s light
And pretend everything is all right

I beg you for answers as I pray
How long must I watch as everything goes astray
What is arising is saddening, which is simply maddening
So until you come get me once more…

I’ll close my eyes
And dream that I’m dancing with butterflies
I watch my dress spin and shimmer in the moon’s light
And pretend everything is all right

I think I’ve found your answer today
He seems to shine your light in every way
He has adopted my heart; accepting and cherishing, long-lasting
Please don’t come get me before…

Everyone cries
As they watch us dance among summer butterflies
I watch my dress spin and shimmer in the moon’s light
And know that as long as I’m holding you both tight
Everything will always be all right

This poem is about pain and hope, tragady and loss. Passifically about a little girl growing up in tragadys, but never stops praying. In the end she finds a guy who shares her faith who loves her the way she always needed.
