The Race
December 7, 2009
the race starts
the crowd cheers me on
filling me with energy
but the crowd comes to an end
the cheers fade
my mind starts to talk
telling me to slow down
take a brake
but just when I’m about to
my coach appears
along the path
yelling at me
to keep going
not stop
but as soon as he appeared
he was gone
and I am left trying
to keep going
fighting my mind
trying not to listen
to the cries of my body
I look up and see
the goal
the meaning behind the race
and I keep going
keep pushing
but for how much longer
