Freshman
I see you walking down the hall
Looking terrified at the upperclassmen all around you
With eight notebooks in your hands
And a head full of hopes and dreams
You see your old group of friends
Who look just as scared as you
You’re almost fifteen
And this is the first day of your freshman year
In reality, another chapter of life has just begun
Just in the first semester of high school
You learn who your true friends are,
You get yourself your first real boyfriend,
And you make new life-long friends
Now just three short years later
You’re not scared of that one hallway
Or the people in it
Glasford and Illini Bluffs High school
Have become your comfort zone
It’s hard to believe that there’s only one year
Until you leave this small town USA
And show this big world
Exactly what you’ve got
