Caged in Silence

December 16, 2009

Trapped
A Quiet little girl treads these halls
Her front door slams with a thud
She is silent

She longs to do little girl things
To think little girl thoughts
That is dangerous
She is silent

Caged but for unseen things
Caged but for silent thoughts
She obeys in silence

No longer trapped
She’s allowed to do little girl things
Think little girl thoughts
But habits are hard to break
She is still silent

The scars on the inside hurt more
Than the scars on the outside
She is still silent

Her voice was crushed with a fist
The damage is already done
The silence envelopes her life
