Purplish-blue to greenish-brown mountains
Towering above cities underneath
Long shadows stretch along
The life that prospers below.

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

Nestled in valleys,
Guarded by mountains,
Cities thrive,
Oblivious to the surrounding protection.

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

Cities below with flickering lights,
Ignorant of surrounding giants,
Go on with life unaware
Of the barriers around them.

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

One time only,
Someone ventures out,
And sees the sight
Laid out before them

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

Tourists come to flock the city,
Not for nature, not for beauty.
They come to see the sights and sounds,
To see the lights among the clouds.

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

None will ever realize
The everlasting monument
Surrounding them,
Guarding them

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

When trapped within a city,
Industry and technology are a blockade
Between humans and their machines,
Nature and her plants.

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

People care only for smaller things;
Things that last awhile.
But they crumble and they fall,
While nature lasts forever.

Day by day,
From dawn to dusk,
The kings of the valley
Stand guarding their domain.

Some things come,
And some things go.
But only one thing is never to leave;
Lasting for eternity; forever and a day.
