"Whenever I despair, I remember that the way of truth and love has always won. There may be tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they may seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it: always."

Speak to me average man
say what you are able?
for I am aware
that you are nothing
not worthy of extra attention
not a talent or a failure
a whisper in the wind
lost under the sound of an average's day's waves

It doesn't take a storm,
just a sun and a world and a moon
to surround a man, the genius, with the sand between his toes
he steps on you
he cleans you from his midsts
not a tyrant
nor a monk
and you are thrown aside
so speak to me average man
but of what are you able to say?

The author's comments:
The school system at times feels like it is designed to cram students into a corner. Has it really changed much from its Industrial Revolution roots? There is one question we must answer to get to the bottom of this: Are we becoming free thinkers or workers on the line? Whether it be the way students move from class to class or the predesigned curriculum we must follow as students, there are many times I can answer yes, we are being made to be average. Even if you are at the top of your class the school system can find a way to put you down.
